Who we are

Halfway between fanfare and chamber jazz, Back To Bix (B2B for friends) pays tribute to the traditional jazz of New Orleans and Chicago. The Montpellier Quintet finds its inspiration in the masters of "old style" jazz: Bix Beiderbecke, of course, but also King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Jimmie Noone, Duke Ellington, and many others.

Back To Bix interprets in its own way the jazz standards of a century ago and also concocts some original arrangements, while giving pride of place to collective improvisation and polyphonic arrangements in the "Early Jazz" style, on syncopated and even sometimes swaying rhythms!

Vocals, cornet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, banjo, tuba, and sometimes tap dance, are the instruments that make up the small acoustic orchestra, which shares its passion for traditional jazz with freshness and good humor.

Audrey Leclair: cornet and vocals
David Tavani: clarinet and tenor saxophone
Julien Vézilier: trombone and vocals
Laure Colson: banjo and vocals
Olivier Bour: tuba
